I was watching the local news last night when I saw a teaser about pet toys tainted with lead, chromium, and cadmium. Immediately I thought, “oh great…here we go again.” So of course I watched rather impatiently waiting for the new story on tainted pet toys. When it finally came on, my first thought was “Holy cow! The writer’s strike has hit local news – this is a repeat.” KXAN was reporting on tainted pet toys that had been in the news back in September.
I’m not sure why it took them so long to report what had been reported on back in September. They referred to a September 16 story on tainted pet toys by Consumer Affairs.com. I wrote about it on September 16 (and so did many other bloggers) – the very same day ConsumerAffairs.com posted the tainted pet toy story.
Don’t get me wrong. With the holidays coming up and people out there buy gifts for their pets, it’s good to keep people informed. But I do wish KXAN would have at least mentioned that this was discovered in September rather than presenting it like it was something new.

Doesn’t seem like they always have to lead with something that is going to scare the wits out of people? No wonder people don’t take them seriously.
