Book Review: Yiddish for Dogs

Yiddish for Dogs, written and illustrated by Janet Perr, made me laugh out loud repeatedly! It’s an alphabetical list of common Yiddish words with their definitions from a dog’s point of view. And with each definition there is a photo of a dog in an appropriate pose and a short story to go along with it. While I was reading, I could almost hear the dogs reading the little stories. It’s quite humorous.

And since the holidays are coming up (and since I really want to work one of the Yiddish words into this review), Yiddish for Dogs would make a great gift for anyone in your mishpocha! Not sure what mishpocha is? You’ll just have to see Yiddish for Dogs for the definition! (and for those of you who do know Yiddish, you’ll have to forgive me if I didn’t use the word quite right – I grew up Catholic! )

I’m giggling through this, but haven’t finished it yet. Good review.
