Texas law might label your dog dangerous

I’m absolutely thrilled to let everyone know that I’m the newest member of the Pet Connection team of bloggers! There’s a top-notch group of pet lovers and great bloggers over there, and I know I’m going to enjoy blogging with them. Thank you Gina, David, Christie, and everyone else over at Pet Connection for welcoming me!

My first post at Pet Connection is extremely important to Texas dog owners. Everyone should read it, but I especially urge Texas dog people to please take the time to read it. It may affect you and your dog. It’s regarding a proposed bill House Bill 998, which would impose hefty restrictions on some dog owners.

Here’s a quick rundown of the bill:

  • It targets male dogs that have not been neutered
  • Pertains to dogs that weigh 20 pounds or more
  • Dogs must be restrained at all times
    – On a leash in immediate control of a person
    or
    – Must be in a secure enclosure
  • Owner must have $100,000 worth of liability insurance

This includes dogs of all ages and all breeds – not just the typical breeds targeted by BSL.

Read the rest over at Pet Connection.

After you read the post, please call your Texas legislator and let them know how wrong this bill is and that it cannot be allowed to pass.
