Saturday I attended the Dog Day Afternoon festival, sponsored by Austin radio station KLBJ. I got to hang out with lots of wonderful dogs and great dog lovers. There were border collies, poodles, Catahulas, retrievers, mutts – you name it!
Besides being there just to have fun and meet lots of cool dogs and their people, I set up a booth and talked to folks about pet first aid. With this being Pet First Aid Awareness month, it was a great time to get out and let people know just how important it is for pet owners to know pet first aid. There were plenty of vendors there too – Southpaws Playschool, Dirty Dog, Patty Mora Photography, Austin Boxer Rescue, and lots more. (I’ve got some pet first aid classes scheduled at Southpaws & Dirty Dog. See Austin Pet First Aid for info.)
In addition to the vendors, there were lots of athletic dogs who competed in wiener dog races and in Frisbee contests. Those little dachshunds are so darn cute, they’re laugh-making machines. And the Frisbee catching dogs were amazing – they really get into their sport!
