dogtownbookDogTown: Tales of Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Redemption by Stefan Bechtel is an inspiring read for sure! It’s about some of the many dogs of DogTown, at Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah. Each chapter highlights a dog that would have been deemed unadoptable by most animal shelters and euthanized as a result. But, with the help of the patient and skillful staff and loving volunteers at DogTown, these dogs have a second chance at life.

Some of the dogs you’ll read about include:

Georgia is a former Michael Vick dog, and these days she likes to attack people with loving licks  instead of teeth (all of which were removed by her former dog-fighting owners).

Aristotle is a  little dog who came to DogTown with a terrible skin condition. After intense medical treatment he recovered and even found himself in a loving home.

Knightly is a 13 year old Weimaraner who was taken from his home after he bit one of his elderly owners’ caretakers.

DogTown: Tales of Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Redemption is a must read, especially if you’re a fan of the National Geographic series, DogTown. You might even recognize some of the dogs from the show.

I received a copy of the book from the National Geographic Society.
