From Christie Keith…

With the food recalls and all the questions, etc on diets for our pets, I thought you guys might be interested in checking this out. I know from being in on past chats of Christies that they are indeed very informative. you won’t be disappointed….

Nancy Campbell, RVT, of Vet Techs Blog, and I do a holistic care chat every Thursday night from 9-10 PM Eastern Time over on DogHobbyist.com. Since so many people are looking for information on homemade dog and cat diets right now, due to the pet food recall that seems to involve so many brands of pet food, I thought it would be a good idea to do a special topic, “The ABCs of Homemade Diets.”

I’ve been feeding home prepared diets to my dogs and cats now for over 21 years. I have written about canine and feline nutrition, including home feeding, for America Online, the Veterinary Information Network, Bark Magazine, SFGate.com, PetConnection.com, and many other websites, magazines, newsletters, and publications. I’ll be giving an overview of what you need to know to successfully feed a nutritious, wholesome diet to your dogs or cats using fresh foods from the grocery store, and where to go to find more information.

The chat will be held here on Thursday, March 22, at 9 PM Eastern:

If you are not a registered user of the site, you can click “Log in as a guest.” The chats are free, and there is nothing to download or install, but you do have to have Java enabled in you browser. For chat room help:

Please feel free to cross-post this information anywhere you think people might benefit from it, and we hope to see you there.

Christie Keith

Thanks for doing this – I’ll be there. And I’ll pass this information on to a lot of panicked pet guardians…
