There’s a new top ten list out, but it’s not a Dave Letterman kinda top ten. This one is a list of the ten smartest dogs. My dog Archie’s, on the list. Well…ok…it’s not actually him that’s on this list but the the border collie certainly is. And honestly, Archie is a super sweet dog, and I love him to pieces, but I’m not sure anyone would single him out for his smarts.
Here they are…the 10 smartest dogs:

9 Rottweiler
8 Papillon
7 Labrador Retriever
6 Shetland Sheepdog
5 Doberman Pinscher
4 Golden Retriever
3 German Shepherd
2 Poodle

Of course, Lydia should be on there right alongside the border collie. She’s part Australian Shepherd and she’s one smart cookie!

I have three dogs: Zoey, Leroy, and Stella. Zoey and Leroy are chihuahuas and Stella is an Italian greyhound/Jack Russell. Zoey is very intelligent almost to the point of annoying as that often trails off into the world of stubborn. Stella is still a pup (7 months) so it’s still early to tell but she appears right up there with Zoey. Leroy has the level of brain capacity that I can’t brag out. I call him my lover, not my thinker dog

Did someone forget about Boxers?
Australian Cattle Dogs are only 10th? I’d put them top 3 for sure. Those dogs can practically read a cook book and make you a gourmet dinner if you tell them to. Skidboot is famous, but his abilities are pretty normal for a healer with a good handler.
