It was bound to happen…more dog treats containing peanut butter have been recalled.

From the Associated Press

Jewel-Osco, a division of Supervalu Inc., is recalling its Happy Tails multi-flavored dog biscuits because they could be contaminated with salmonella. In pets, this organism can cause diarrhea, vomiting, fever and abdominal pain and can be transferred to other animals or humans. The organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems. The products were sold at Jewel-Osco stores in a 26 ounce package with the UPC number 41163-42406, as well as the 4 pound package with UPC number 41163-42403. No illnesses have been reported. Customers can return the product for a refund or exchange. For more information, consumers can call 877-932-7948.

and from ABC6.com, in Providence, RI…

Today, Shaw’s announced it is voluntarily recalling two dog biscuit brands. Both “Happy Tails,” and “Shoppers Value Multi-Flavored Dog Biscuits” brands are being pulled from shelves.

Best bet, for my pets and me, at least for now…no peanut butter!
